An Ulster final replay at a packed stadium next weekend might have done more for the promotion of gaelic football than 24 matches to eliminate 4 teams. Next sell-out game in Clones probably 12 months away.
@pauriclodge
I do see your point Pauric however the players voted for more games…. How great is it for teams who normally had 1/2 championship games a summer to a minimum of 4 and a chance to compete at their level. Do agree that replay would have been another sell out
@pauriclodge
This stuff about playing 24 games to eliminate 4 teams is nonsense - by the same logic the Premier League plays 380 games to eliminate 3 teams
@pauriclodge
Tbf, it's this way to stop dead rubbers. Lessons were learned from the Super* stuff where many 3rd round games were pointless. So yes, only 4 eliminated, but it is for very good reasons.
@pauriclodge
Is the 24 teams not designed at getting more games and all counties excited about all Ireland series. There will be great games in the all Ireland series aswell. I do agree, provincial final should of went to a replay, but not sure it would contribute more than All Ire series
@pauriclodge
Clones itself is simply not fit for purpose. Nothing has changed there in 25 years. The town is too small to hold capacity crowd the stadium itself is dated toilets are a nitemare. Parking and traffic is some of the worst you will ever see it’s not an enjoyable day
@pauriclodge
Clones is a kip.... The crowd management at the venue by both gardai and GAA is unbelievable bad... Can be dangerous at times with huge crowds not properly managed
