Just as John Cleese was the first person to say 'fuck' at a British memorial service, I feel we just crossed a new Rubicon in the use of the word 'fuck' in political discourse.
President Trump on Israel and Iran: "We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the fuck they’re doing."

A brilliant thread by @danny__kruger on the dystopia we are now entering. Has to be read to the end.
"Now, splendidly, everything had become clear. The enemy at last was plain in view, huge and hateful, all disguise cast off. It was the Modern Age in arms." . After this week I feel like Evelyn Waugh at the time of the Nazi-Soviet Pact in 1939. The politics of 'progress' has.

RT @JSMilbank: We’ve now created a new category of tragedy — women who can legally kill their child up to birth, but can’t get medical help….

Our obituary for Patrick O'Flynn, a former lobby colleague who - like several others from the old days - has been taken too soon. RIP.

Good analysis from @SamCoatesSky. As I said last week, Reform-minded voters are not generally minded to vote Labour. Starmer is taking his core supporters for granted on the (wrong) assumption they have nowhere else to go.

I was very honoured to have been part of this event last night, particularly as HTFP celebrates its 25th anniversary year. More importantly, it's great to see the King highlighting the 'unique and vital' role of the regional media.
"I have long believed that regional media, in all its forms, has a unique and vital role to play in society, perhaps even more so in these uncertain times.". From Moray to Morecambe, Birmingham to Berkhamsted, regional media was celebrated at Buckingham Palace last night.

Very odd #ThreeLions squad from Tuchel. Talented young players like Wharton, Branthwaite and Gibbs-White excluded in favour of has-beens and out-of-form players such as Walker, Henderson and Eze. Not so much a fresh start as a backward step.

Spectacularly ungracious piece in The Guardian on Kay Burley's retirement, focusing almost entirely on 'gaffes' as opposed to her 36 years in broadcast journalism.

So having done its best to drive out Gary Lineker with endless articles about his salary and supposed lefty political views, the Mail is now whingeing about the proposed three-presenter format for #MOTD .

IAN HERBERT: So there goes the notion of Match of the Day being an appointment to watch the nation's signature football presenter guiding us through an hour of entertainment.

Incredibly shabby behaviour by the supposedly whiter-than-white Scott Trust to agree to sell the Observer while its journalists were on strike over the plan .
