When I was younger and a journalism student, I dreamed of working for the LA Times (though God had other plans). I've been a subscriber since I was 18, and it wasn't until recent years that we have witnessed significant strides in the coverage of the real Los Angeles, thanks to

Sad day in Los Angeles today. The mass layoffs at the LA Times, represent a profound setback for both our city and the landscape of journalism. The loss of these voices and perspectives raises concerns about the future of media representation and storytelling.

I'm one of 115 who were let go from LAT today. I'm proud of what @delosLAtimes accomplished and thank the Guild for securing us severance. I guess now's a good time to finish my novel-slash-screenplay! Hmu if you need an LA-based writer, singer or DJ: suzy dot exposito at gmail

The Mexican military, the Mexican National Guard, state police, the commission of missing persons were all involved in helping my sister, brother-in-law return to safety. They continue in their efforts to help return two other people who are kidnapped the same week.

I've read of journalist desaparecidos. Never in a million years did I imagine one of those journalists would be my sister and my brother-in-law. They were kidnapped in Taxco, Guerrero. Please help me spread this message in hopes that we will get them back safely.

FYI: Today is #LatinaEqualPayDay! I visited the SAG-AFTRA picket line and spoke with actors Gina Torres, Lisa Vidal and Diana Maria Riva about why Latinas should be fighting for better wages, in entertainment and beyond: https://t.co/axORy1Aksk

From Armenia, Oaxaca, Thailand, Yucatán, Korea ... It's the kids of immigrants who are shaping the 21st Century cuisines of Los Angeles. Start with @Laurie_Ochoa's epic essay introducing this year's Food Bowl. It's going to be one for the ages. ✨✨

The crowds that "American Homeboy" is turning out across the country is crazy. This is not a big budget superhero movie. This is an independent documentary about Mexican Americans.

I made an independent #film about Mexican American history with no distributor, no production company, and no marketing team. Despite this, the trailer has since done 3 million views across social media, and the full movie has been picked up by 10 cities. Wow! 🎥
