The thing is, a WHOLE LOT of my comedian friends have been pointing out how, for some reason, your lineups have shifted back to the way I remember comedy back in the late 80s. Namely, mostly dudes, maybe one or two women…
I can’t even imagine what it must have been like, holding on by your fingernails through this last year of horribleness. I would not wish that on anyone.
But we came out of the pandemic smack dab in the middle of 2021, not 1988, and there are audiences out there who would PACK a room with a more diverse lineup.
It just feels like better (and more profitable) business sense to make sure this new generation of female, gay, lesbian, trans, POC , neuro-diverse & disabled voices gets their time onstage…
One of the reasons I love your clubs is for the “hangs” before and after the show. Meeting people from experiences different than mine always gets my brain firing on cylinders I didn’t know I had. It does the same for your audiences.
Let’s go roaring into 2021 and the decades beyond with comedy that hits from angles that no one’s heard yet. It makes stand-up stronger, makes the evenings more memorable, brings audiences (and their friends) coming back. Novelty is addictive.
Also, my plea for more diversity onstage does NOT include Belgians. They burned down my grandmother’s summer cabin in 1983 and can’t be trusted. Thank you.

Why not ask all the women comedians in your comedy circle their opinion and then tell us what they say, instead of going to social media to make blanket statements about white men so you can pander to the woke sjws to sell more tickets.
@pattonoswalt
Comedy is the ultimate merit based occupation. If you’re funny, you get booked. If you’re not, you don’t.
Why anyone would want to get preferential treatment based on sex/skin color is beyond me.
I would not want to get something solely based on me being female.
