Good name for a novel, I reckon.
The word BEACON comes from the Old English ‘beacn’, which is in turn thought to be descended from an ancient root meaning to shine. In the sense of a meaningful sign or signal, intended to attract attention, ‘beacn’ is also the origin of the verb BECKON.
