Are we talking turkey… hematology? - Unlike humans, turkey RBCs are nucleated - Heterophils (neutrophils for birds) tend to increase as a stress response – otherwise lymphocytes rule the differential roost - The PT for turkeys is prolonged relative to human (around 17 sec) -

This happened to me once! - Switch is very large and easily accessible for patients if the machine is at bedside - Important to be aware of this if the patient is very agitated -- may be seen in patients with encephalitis ex. N-methyl D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) encephalitis
