Don’t be afraid of putting your first work in a drawer. You learn so much the first time around, and you get better each time. Keep learning! Learn genre conventions & craft. Read the craft books (esp for your genre). Go to writing conferences. Connect with other authors.
My first WIP has died in the query trenches. It’s okay, I know it’s a canon event. Here’s to trying again next year 🫡 Stay strong peeps #amquerying #WritingCommunity

Unfortunately I am making the very difficult decision not to open back up to queries at the end of the month as I anticipated. I still have 70+ to go through, dating back to July, and I dont feel good about opening to more while those people are waiting. 1/2

as an agent, one thing I really wish more #amquerying YA fantasy writers knew is that if the project will be your debut novel and your word count is 6 figures, it’s going to be much, much harder to sell to a publisher
