The Manifesto for the Margins: Art Beyond the Market Cycle. We reject the myth that bear markets produce better art. They produce art that survives the taste of those still buying. They reward polish over risk, familiarity over innovation, and scarcity over experimentation.
Bear markets produce better art than bull markets. Artists have to meet a higher threshold of quality to find collectors willing to spend when demand is soft. They also can work at a more sensible pace and be more thoughtful about their practice. Bull market velocity = digital.
