The ‘superhuman’ figure depicts dominant, normalised constructions of para-sport focused on heroic actions. The text in the plinth speaks to other narratives of disability which are often marginalised including disabilities seen to be caused by ‘bad life choices’. #bodypartsAHRC.

Spoken word artist Jackie Hagan debuts her poem Celebrity Stumps, closing the speeches at the #bodypartsAHRC at Asia House. Telling of her experiences as an amputee, she finished with a round of applause and with a ceremonial drink out of her prosthetic. @ahrcpress @BUresearch
