According to Knots (fork of Core), the solution is “relay policy”, or “filters”. If certain payloads match characteristic “spam” payloads, then they will refuse to propagate them across the network, effectively censoring them out. Is this a good thing?

We have a circular dependency problem. Lightning network is a scalable protocol but according to @cguida6 , requires a very quiet base layer for adoption. What is the solution?

These “spammers” (people paying competitive fees and winning block space) claim that if you want less spam than you need to pay higher fees and price them out. @cguida6 is saying that he is trying to create more honest adoption but is unable to because of the spam…

From what I gathered, @cguida6 is upset that as he tries to onboard merchants to bitcoin via the Lightning Network, he is competing with “spam” and it becomes economically infeasible for the merchant to open a channel. 🧵
