Funny bc I have a degree where this issue was talked about. Women dont get to be perceived as neutral... Meanwhile, most people associated masculinity with neutrality, so i tend to relate to male characters for that reason. It sucks, but it can be overcome!

Sadly this is how I feel. I have a love-hate relationship with womanhood bc i never felt represented by it. My gender is a whole mess and I hope one day i make peace with it.
in the fictional realm where you can literally do anything these people want me to believe there is some hyperspecific way that they enjoy male characters that is impossible with female characters and requires their removal/sidelining from the narrative. I don't buy it at all.

i really don't wanna be shady but i had to mute the name of a certain western bl show. i have nothing against it or people who enjoy it, but some 'fans' keep comparing it to asian and especially japanese bls in clearly not good faith, and it just reeks of racism and xenophobia.
