Excited to share that a paper I started working on in 🌟2016🌟 is now published, more than a year after I first submitted it! Our dataset is publicly available (of course) if you're interested in mid-Holocene paleo precipitation! https://t.co/VFkJYSxG8W

This flowstone from Bear Cave in Yukon Territory is especially cool--the top layer (where a chip has been removed) dates to 419,000 yrs ago, and appears to reflect the most recent period of permafrost thaw at the Arctic Circle in NW Canada https://t.co/LE6L3C7jaN

We used cave deposits to uncover the history of Canadian permafrost, finding that thaw was much more common prior 400,000 yrs ago. Like @Vakstwit's results from Siberia, looks like a shift in NH permafrost stability after MIS11. Why? Love a good mystery.

Our new paper is out now in Paleoceanography and Paleoclimatology (yes they let in stalagmites now). Check it out for a great story on tropical rainfall dynamics at the edges of the monsoon during the deglaciation. https://t.co/HsIgdS1m0s

New record shows the last 240,000 yrs of Saharan dust variations track summer insolation, with much less influence from glacial-interglacial changes than previously thought. Great work, @chachaussette!

These first-year undergraduates have been working really hard this term in consultation with researchers, students and cultural experts on the Navajo Nation. Excited to see their final project come together for the presentation tomorrow night!
Join @MITterrascope's final presentation on Wednesday, 12/5 at 7pm in room 10-250: This year’s topic is increasing water security on Navajo Nation by developing proposed solutions that blend cutting-edge technology with traditional Navajo practices and culture.

We use obs, models to explore how trade winds and Hadley circ respond when the rain belt shifts - turns out trades may stabilize the rain belt against large shifts. But more trade wind obs needed!

Did Mark Peaple just extract a tequila sunrise from lake sediments? Exciting afternoon in the lab @USC_earth.
