I don’t think we have to choose one or the other. I’d never use Markdown to build a complex UI, the same way that I’d never use HTML for a project readme.
TBH I always wondered why we needed Markdown when HTML is standardized, portable, and just works. Always felt people were just over-engineering better shortcuts/the lack of a universal WYSIWYG. Still meh on Markdown after all these years!
