The Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled that Oklahoma HB 1775 does not apply to higher education teaching issues regarding race and gender in Oklahoma. As a result, the ACLU and co-counsel are now dismissing any further legal claims on behalf of OU-AAUP.

“Almost four years since the initial filing, students and professors at Oklahoma’s universities and colleges have a clear answer: HB 1775 does not apply in Oklahoma’s higher education classrooms,” said Adam Hines, legal fellow at the ACLU of Oklahoma.

Wow! OU paid $18,000 (close to or a significant % of annual salaries for many working at OU) for an ideological topic popular on the political right about supposed 'cancel culture.' No questions were allowed after hearing the actual talk on "free speech.".

Another unheard question @ OU/FIRE talk. F.Y.I., FIRE opposes DEI statements. Why isn't it free speech to express alleged "orthodoxies" within DEI statements as FIRE argues? Isn't opposing any free speech on campus cancel culture?.
