Python in Excel is now a thing! Python is now a peer of the Excel formula language and you can mix both languages seamlessly in the Excel grid. Python runs on Azure and is powered by the @anacondainc Python distribution. This was a multi-year collaboration between the Python

It's been awesome partnering with @anacondainc on this project. I am excited to provide access to Anaconda Distribution for Python directly within #Excel.

Note that these updates will sit at this stage for a bit while we react to any feedback and complete the equivalent work in Excel for the web (being tested internally right now). This is a particularly complex area in the code base, so testing and feedback are appreciated!

Of course, having explicitly defined DAX measures in the underlying dataset is still a best practice for more complex calculations. The challenge here is that most folks interacting with the PivotTables might not have access or know how to create the measures in the first place.

This means that PivotTables connected to #PowerBI datasets will now support drag-and-drop aggregation of fields (e.g. sum, average, distinct count, etc.). This helps you to quickly get answers within Excel without needing pre-defined measures in the underlying Power BI datasets.

Quick update on the #Excel + #PowerBI integration front. The Windows specific updates mentioned in this post (e.g. drag and drop aggregations) are now available to the Current Channel Preview (aka Insiders Slow). Please test these out and send us feedback! https://t.co/LRAP3XsLPZ

We just announced a new wave of lambda functions. If you like dynamic arrays, you are going to love BYROW and BYCOL -- they allow you to aggregate rows/columns and have them spill. 💯 https://t.co/BtckTipH70

Awesome overview @wynhopkins! Excited to see what folks build with these new capabilities. I hear you on the access friction - still some more to go to polish the experience.

I need to work some more with my #PowerBI friends on messaging and wordsmithing. This should technically say something more along the lines of "PivotTable refresh in #Excel for the web." Any PivotTable purist would know that it is just one word. :)
