Residents of the capital say these so-called ‘digital nomads’ are taking advantage of Mexico’s relatively cheap living standards but pricing out locals in the process. Latest for @guardian

Protests this month laid bare the growing anger from locals against foreigners who have flocked to the Mexican capital since the coronavirus pandemic

Mexico has a new president. Among @Claudiashein’s top priorities should be tackling a human rights catastrophe: the disappearance of 116,000 people. From me in @latimes

My first byline in many many months. Once again Mexico’s military has succeeded in blocking efforts to uncover the atrocities of its past:

My first front page story for the Wall Street Journal on how betrayal led to the arrest of drug lord "El Mayo" Zambada. It was an honor to work with @Jose_deCordoba and @PerezEnMexico on this piece.

Absolutely horrifying. In one of the world's deadliest countries for journalists, @lopezobrador_ reads out the phone number of @nytimes bureau chief @Nataliekitro on national TV. Read her and @alanfeuer's extraordinary, explosive report.

The inquiry examined accusations of potential links between drug traffickers and close confidants of the president while he governed the country.

In Mexico mothers of the disappeared dig in clandestine graves in search of their children. Yesterday one group found 29 graves. In just four of them they found 14 bodies.

“Instead of trying to score political points by disputing the number of disappeared, AMLO should listen to the thousands of families clamouring for justice and take steps to address the systemic causes of this ongoing catastrophe.” @TMattiaceHRW

Activists say the review of 113,000 missing people in Mexico is a ploy to reduce the number ahead of the presidential election

Mató a 11 jóvenes e hirió a 14.

What is going on in Mexico?! The police chief of Mexico City allegedly forced to flee amid a cartel death threat. Yet another massacre, a dozen young people murdered. A leading columnist spied on, threatened by the navy. These are dark days indeed.
