The @Sennheiser HD490 is actually very impressive. I don't know why that surprises me.

Different people prefer different levels of bass - before DSP was commonly available on consumer headphones, the levels of bass were sometimes adjusted by having the back port of the ear cup be variable in size.

@modhouseaudio @seanolive and if you prefer deeper bass extension with a slightly less mid-forward sound, you can use the closed earpads instead. It uses @ZMFheadphones's Caldera earpads ("Ultra Perforated" and "Hybrid"). You can tell how much R&D Mr. Merhbach puts into earpads!

after doing further measurements I can confirm that there's an active feedback path that increases leakage tolerance.

The @CreativeLabs Aurvana Ace contains a 2-way system, with an electrodynamic woofer and a tweeter by @xMEMSLabs. They're quite tolerant to leakage! I wonder if there is active leakage compensation?

@Sony @PlayStation @Audeze Of course these earphones are made primarily to be used with the Playstation, which you'll be playing at home, in a - presumably - low-noise environment, so ANC isn't the most important part.

The @Sony @PlayStation PULSE Explore earphones feature planar-magnetic speakers by @Audeze . They're tuned essentially to a Harman-curve. No active noise-cancelling! Unusual for a modern TWS!
