He also used his employed time to find an idea that was worth it: "I want to use that time to kind of shut down all these other things and instead think really deeply about the future and try to decide what do I want to sink the next two decades of my life into?"

The job was a major cash flow increase for Garrett. He didn't let his lifestyle expand to consume it: "I was making more money than I ever made in my entire life, it was bananas. There was a temptation to raise my lifestyle. Instead I just banked the excess."

Garrett gave himself 2 years before he had to quit and try something: "I have to leave in two years. Cause it's so easy, especially when you're progressing in something, just continue to stay in that."
