5/ The release was audited by @cantinaxyz and has the same MIT / Apache 2.0 dual-license as the rest of OpenVM. We chose this license to empower developers with GPU acceleration in the most flexible way, particularly for different containerized or on-prem hosting environments.

4/ Finally, we've substantially improved OpenVM's execution system via an optimized interpreter that incorporates direct memory mapping, tail call optimization, and extension-specific accelerations. The resulting execution runs at 150 MHz, which dramatically decreases proving

3/ We've also shipped a redesign of OpenVM execution and tracegen to support multi-GPU distributed proving on hundreds of GPUs. With this redesign, OpenVM operates fully in parallel after an initial preparatory execution phase.

2/ The core feature is a new GPU prover, which accelerates both proving and tracegen with no host-to-device communication. GPU support works on all Nvidia GPUs with at least 24GB of VRAM, including L40, RTX 4090, L40S, and RTX 5090 cards for both self-hosted and cloud usage.

1/ OpenVM v1.4.0 is a step change in performance -- it can prove Ethereum mainnet blocks in 15s for under $0.0003 per transaction on L40S GPUs, a 5x+ improvement from the v1.0.0 release in March 2025. We expect a 2x improvement as we move to newer 5090 GPUs in the coming weeks.

Today we are releasing the OpenVM Solidity SDK, which allows developers to verify OpenVM proofs onchain for ~330K gas. The Solidity SDK supports any zkVM constructed with the modular OpenVM framework and also ships as a Foundry library for the default OpenVM configuration.
