To corroborate, we spoke to locals, including a shop owner, a temple priest, and a family living in the area for over 60 years. All said they’d never seen such a sight before, despite qurbani being an annual ritual. It likely resulted from blood mixing with floodwater.

We were able to accurately geo-locate the scene of the incident. Bhawani Dutta Lane and Neel Madhab Sen Lane are two narrow streets near the College Street–Mahatma Gandhi Road crossing, just steps from Presidency University. A site visit confirmed the match.

The WB-CCW’s Fact Check Portal also published the inaccurate fact-check report. Acc to their website, they present “verified, accurate, reliable information.” Notably, the site uses a domain.

In its fact-check, the WB CCW ‘debunked’ six photos & labelled them fake. They cited a 2016 post from Dhaka. One of the ‘debunked’ photos labelled “fake” is from the viral video. However, only two images match the original post; the viral video screengrab is not among them.
