The #OMDTZ team is in Geita Town Council, training local mappers to collect key drainage data, including culverts, ditches, and drain networks. By engaging communities in the #datacollection process, this initiative builds local capacity and improves sanitation infrastructure.

1/2 #SolidWasteManagement is a challenge that requires collaboration, innovation, & the community! We are excited to team up with @litterati using AI & image recognition to analyze and categorize waste. This week, our team got hands-on training with the Litterati app!

As part of OMDTZ’s commitment to empowering youth, this initiative will equip over 98% of participating youth in both regions. Through a two-month paid opportunity, they will gain valuable career skills, enhancing their professional growth and impact in their communities.

We are preparing to launch the Climate Action Plan development project in Bukoba and Geita, which will focus on collecting #wastemanagement data. This initiative will empower youth with hands-on skills in open mapping, GIS, and community engagement to drive climate resilience.

Last year, OMDTZ mapped 40+ wards in Dar es Salaam, collecting 500,000+ images across 1300 km using a modified tricycle for @mapillary. The team faced challenges but overcame most of them. We have published a blog about it. To know more, click this link:

@tcaaccc_ Then she moved on to specialized training, covering surveying, orthomosaics, and point clouds. Mission planning was a key focus, especially using #DroneDeploy for automation. The session wrapped up with hands-on flight training, including piloting & emergency handling. #FPT2025

In the #FPT2025 training, Brenda covered essential drone concepts, starting with the basics: components, flight mechanics, and pre-flight checks. She also talked about regulatory compliance, emphasizing aviation laws and @tcaaccc_ regulations.
