I'll be on night shift as the clock will strike midnight on my 29th birthday
With every birthday, I try and make it about the films I love. So I made a list of 29 film recommendations in celebration. Watch one and tell me what you thought of it!
I officially give up on Cinema in the UAE. Everything is going backwards.
I think this is the first time ever in my almost 29 years of existence that I have only gone to the cinema ONCE and half of the year has already passed.
Its so sad
PSA to the younger generation that I have seen often do this
Do not water down your culture for other people. Do not mold your traditions when a foreigner asks you about it, fearing they will be put off. Its your culture, not theirs. Dont westernize something that isnt western
My top 100 films of the past decade
I have worked tirelessly over the past couple of months to write this list, and it would mean the world to me if you would read it and share it. Thank you all for your support 🙏
Reading about the true story behind the Iron Claw, only to realize there was another brother with a similar fate that was excluded from the movie because it was too sad to include 🥲🥲
People have been taking my comments as an attack on the big cinemas (vox..etc) themselves.
I am talking about inconsistency amongst our regulation:
-GOT shown on tv (same content cant be in cinemas)
-Independent cinemas (which are regulated) showing stuff big cinemas cant
So in order to tackle my long list of games backlog. I put all the games I wanted to play, checked how many hours it takes to beat, and the average score.
I then made a formula to basically show me which games to tackle first (short + highly rated = worth my time)
ادري متفيج
Its 50 AED for access to everything. Just get it, even if you dont find the time to watch anything, we need to support such platforms so they keep happening in the UAE
This extends to everything. Books, games, albums. Things can disappear online. When you have it in your hand no one can take it away from you.
Support physical media, protect the art you love
Christopher Nolan says there’s concern of content disappearing from streaming services.”
“There is a danger, these days, that if things only exist in the streaming version they do get taken down, they come and go.”

Walking around Freej AlBastakiya with my mother is a joy that cannot be described. Listening to the stories from someone who actually grew up here is an experience that cant be replaced. I hope to one day impart these stories to my kids
It's finally here!!
Ordered the playdate July of 2021 and waited patiently for this incredible looking device. Cant wait to check out all the games on here.
@playdate
Spent the past couple of weeks fixing up this TV cabinet. It only had two rows for my consoles and there was no back so the wires were exposed. Added the new shelves and put a board in the back to make it look clean
Before & After
April 6th 2020
A year ago to this day, during peak lockdown my wife and I randomly decided to make a fort and watch a movie
We watched Edgar Wright's Hot Fuzz. It was hilarious and a great distraction for the lockdown. This random act became my favorite moment of that year
@Abstrakt93
Asteroid city
Beau is afraid
Across the spiderverse
Past lives
Just some examples of big releases that are ignored here. Some for censorship reasons, others just didnt release
Even though previously they used to release some mid budget movies. My whole point is accessibility

Need to sleep and wake up at 04:30 for work
Yes I'm working on birthday, but it's all good, still smiling.
Last year was weird, lots of ups and downs. Here's hoping for a good year.
Take care everyone, thanks for always hearing me out
Also lets use apples to apples. I remember there was literally an Iron Throne in one of the malls in Dubai on display and signs everywhere promoting game of thrones, and that show has so much crap that would be offensive to show in cinemas. But it was more attainable!!

Note to self, never ever ever ever ever argue with someone who cannot follow simple logical reasoning.
Wasted hours of my life I will never get back. Easier to shout at a brick wall
Really frustrates me seeing people actively omit aspects of our traditions because it doesnt align with their narrative. You'll regret it when your kids have lost touch with this country's history for a watered down global identity
Modded my GBA with an IPS LED screen, rechargeable battery, custom shell & buttons.
It honestly looks amazing IRL, the screen makes GBA games look like they were released in 2020. I suggest anyone who has a GBA do these mods, they are worth every dollar.
Im so tired of waiting till the year is over to watch all the movies I wanted because they just came out on VOD. Its so tiring to not have access to the thing that you love and you are passionate about. I just want consistency. Its either okay or not. No double standards
Culture is tied to language, to history, to religion and so much more
When people start to let it go, all they have is a watered down global identity, which is usually western based.
Love your culture, learn it, live it. Soon you will regret letting it go
There is no standard or consistency. Netflix is an open playing field and anyone with a credit card can access it. But I cant buy a ticket and watch a movie with the same content on the cinema screen? (Even after implementation of the 21+ rating mind you)
I dont usually talk about these stuff. But its funny how when Scarlett Johansson was cast for Ghost in the Shell the world flipped.
But the blatant disregard for all the clearly Arabic/islamic influences in Dune was brushed off. When its Arabs, people dont care
Again its funny
The DUNE 2 trailer. *Livid* abt the erasure.
In the bk, "Long live the fighters!" [lit. martyrs in Arabic] is "Ya hya chouhada" - from Algerian war for independence against France.
Film replaces it w (perhaps) gibberish. The audacity to parade this as the marketing tagline!
🧵
An expat at work asked me why I still speak with an Arabic accent when talking in English even though my English is really good.
I honestly dont understand why having good English automatically means you need to speak with an American or British accent
No! Thats the beauty of art.
My favorite movie does not have the best cinematography or the best soundtrack, or production design.
But it's my favorite because it hit a chord in my heart that no other movie was able to.
Googles number of alhosn
Calls number: sir we dont do that call seha
Calls seha: sir call MOH
Calls MOH: sir call our covid call center
Calls call center: sir contact the hospital
Calls hospital: sir call alhosn
I swear im sick and tired anytime Dubai is portrayed its this. I would say we need to push for stuff that are more relevant to day to day residents but no one cares enough and also the biggest point is it doesn't sell
This crap sells. Which is sad
Lol with all the hate and misconstruing of my words coming in on that tweet. I hope people atleast go look at my website and see the work I put into reviews and analysis.
I dont care about the drama. I just want more accessibility to movies in cinema. Anyway go read my blog
Serious answers only
What is the funniest movie you have ever seen?
I'm talking something that makes you genuinely laugh and is clever. I keep thinking of this and I only have a handful of movies that made me laugh a lot, I want to expand, so give me your recs!
@KoreanScreenCom
I am pleasantly surprised to see Burning at number 1. Was expecting old boy or parasite to take it but Burning deserves it even if it isnt my number 1 (definitely close). Its a 100% a masterpiece
I really needed this weekend. Although I needed to study, I couldn't handle it, and I will fully accept the burden in the coming days. I just needed a few of days with my wife. We went out, had burgers, went to the cinema, laughed about how cringe some parts were. It was perfect
For the love of film photography ❤️🎞️
Love the way the scans came out. I posted all the photos on my Instagram, you can check it out! Same handle as here

There are days when I just stare at this shelf and just smile at how much joy each game/console has brought me. Each one brings back so many memories. And seeing the shelf literally overflow with games is a great sight to see
.... Now to get more shelves 😩
@CodeDark_
The wedding business is one of the biggest scams in the UAE. They try to milk every bit of money from you without realizing.
You can save so much money though if you are actually careful at what you are getting, and asking for specific breakdowns of the prices you are paying
You know what are my favorite type of movies? Those which I finish and feel underwhelmed, then over the course of the next couple of days the scenes linger in my mind. I start thinking about it more and more to the point where I cant stop. Then I watch it again and fall in love
Finally built a new PC after using my old one for 8 years (2012). Thought the process of building it on my own would be tough but it was honestly a piece of cake, dunno why we pay people so much to do it.
As someone who lived 6 years abroad with no one who shared a similar taste on movies. I was forced to go alone. Plus I actually enjoy it. Still would go alone even after coming back home There is something about just being there and consuming the film on your own thats satisfying
This account is dedicated to movies and I am committed to that
So I am recommending my favorite Saudi 🇸🇦 movie for no reason. This is totally coincidental...
Anyway watch The Book of the Sun its great (its on Netflix)
Started leaving the house to read.
Something about going to a different place helps me focus and read more, which is the ultimate goal
Today I'm at Mohammed Bin Rashid Library
I printed TSPDT's top 1000 films list 5 years ago back in 2017. Its worn down after years of abuse but I still use it to find interesting movies. I hope to one day have it completely filled out
