Thank you @lindseygumb and @maeverawr for such great examples of using open pedagogy as librarians and relevance of sharing beyond the academy esp during covid19 #OTNSummit20

Each quarter I teach @pressbooks workshops, & on every single one of those days, no other days of the year, my @costarastrology notification is “It’s ok to admit you don’t know what you’re doing.” Deep planetary wisdom about #openpedagogy or I’m not cut out for my job? :)

@SPARC_NA @maeverawr @anniekjohn @j_swatscheno not arguing that we don't all benefit from lib OER publishing programs that are focused on quality, peer review & creating OER replacements for high cost textbooks, just wondering if there are other lib OER creation program models that can contribute in other ways.

@SPARC_NA @maeverawr @anniekjohn @j_swatscheno or can we frame our OER creation programs as instructional design + librarian enabled teaching around things like info privilege, student author rights & alt methods teaching of peer review and evaluation? 3/3

@SPARC_NA @maeverawr @anniekjohn @j_swatscheno especially for faculty interested in constantly updating their work, student created works, open pedagogy practices. Does authoring/creation necessarily have to mean “publishing program” 2/3

Thinking about library initiated OER publishing programs after today's @SPARC_NA conference call w/ @maeverawr @anniekjohn and @j_swatscheno Wondering whether having faculty who are interested in "creation" necessarily means that using the framework of OER "publishing" is best 1/

@OpenAccessElder @hill_mill @open_textbooks How does a lib OER program involve support for publishing as well as support for things like student authored work, #OpenPedagogy practices that may never be “published” works, advocating for inclusivity and critical perspectives on open? #OpenEd19

Now that the coffee is kicking in - my own connections between morning sessions @OpenAccessElder @hill_mill & @open_textbooks & more ...How to build a vision for lib publishing program without wading into territory of OER being (only) about textbooks or affordability? #OpenEd19

Thank you @OpenAccessElder for your excellent presentation on what OER can learn from OA movement: be explicit in our definitions, make room for deeper conversations, beware platforms that encapsulate our efforts.

@steelwagstaff “If we’re putting interactivity and feedback into the platform, does it exist for learners first? If it’s not built for learners first, I think we should change that. . . Learners should own their institutional data. @steelwagstaff #OpenEd19

In @maeverawr study of OE Librarian positions surprised to find that many didn't fall into #scholcomm in the org. Also! Unicorn positions targeted at early career librarians can potentially lead to burnout - yesss #OpenEd19

Excited to learn that my proposal to present at #OpenEd19 was accepted. I'll be talking about strategies for engaging with subject librarian colleagues around #OER and #openpedagogy. Looking forward to sharing and learning from others around this issue!

Yes: What are we missing when we bring a trad publishing mindset to our OER work in libraries? Put it in IR as final goal. Not thinking in terms of collections. Breaking out of librarians just talking to librarians. Panelists and others at #LPForum19
