Thrilled, grateful, proud, baffled, freaked by how many people are showing up at the film this weekend, and how lovely you're all being about it. Thank you.
Apparently we were number 1 in the UK again this weekend, the third in a row. Huge thanks to all from me, the extraordinary cast, and spectacular crew.
So many privileges on this film. Working with
@Cher
is hard to top. Meryl, Lily, Amanda. All the boys. But being at Air Studios with Benny Andersson, watching an orchestra record the score, is right up there.
This is taken over the wall of the outdoor cinema in Vis. And to the right is the church Apollonia swam away from in the movie. It’s been lovely to be here again, thinking about the extraordinary time we had making this thing.
Apparently, MM2 is available digitally now. And there’s a DVD soon. I’m pretty sure I talk bollocks on the commentary track, but there’s lots of other really good stuff, extra bits we shot and whatnot. Really hope you enjoy.
I try not to read reviews of the stuff I do, even from critics I hugely respect. But apparently most people are being nice, and we're all really thrilled and grateful.
And thank you so so much, everyone that’s written to me on here. It’s massively appreciated, and I’ll try and reply to those who’ve asked questions, slagged me off, or just been really really kind.
Nothing has brought me more joy today than Julie Walters being congratulated on the set of MAMMA MIA! 2 for becoming a Dame. I am in bliss.

My lovely brother Jim just published this today in The Atlantic:
Lest this thing worsen
let’s agree to be separated by the length of a tall person.
No touch. We’ll communicate via voice and eyes and heart.
Stick together—six feet apart.
Love to all x
Nico Parker says her parents,
@thandienewton
and filmmaker Ol Parker, tell her to “learn everybody’s name and always be nice,” but don’t give her acting advice: “I think they want it to be my own experience for me to learn about things in my own way”
Fun for me tonight. I get to host a screening of the excellent Mary Poppins movie, and ask its lovely director Rob Marshall some questions. It's all a happy thing.
To all the dancers and crew that might be reading this, that won't be at the premiere tonight ... we'll be thinking of you. And sending love and thanks, always x
It’s weird and seems wrong to me that the US DVD + Blu-Ray is out a month before the European version. But they sent me a couple of spares, so if there’s anyone with a multi-region player that can’t wait, let me know.
🎶I can see it all so clearly, all our love so dearly...🎶 Looking back at a special moment, and a belated happy birthday to director Ol Parker 🎉💖💋

Sad day today, for me and (hopefully) the agents with whom I just parted company. But I love what I do, and I stand with the people who do it with me.

William Goldman taught me more about screenwriting than anyone else, and every day, on every page there's something I took from him. Ironic that the guy who said 'nobody knows anything' was the living disproof of it. RIsomuchP.
