Most important youth coach your child can get in k-3 grades is you ..at this age children feel the need for unconditional love and belief ..no one believes in them more than a parent can

Mistakes lose a lot of games they also keep a lot of players on the bench and in the bleachers ..I stressed and corrected bad plays at the youngest levels ..it paid off by begging with the end in mind ..

I don’t see how a youth athlete can be one who plays hard w/o sprinting back on defense every time..it should be a ticket to bench if the don’t ..

Many youth go days without anyone calling them by name ..outside of home we are losing personal connection ..expressing themselves to electronics is a scary and lonely trend

‘Can’t teach an old dog new tricks but you can teach a puppy’ ..hard to change bad habits but simple to teach good habits ..earlier they learn easier to build on them ..

I wanted my young kids to learn more how to be competitive and survive in competition (much like the playground of lace em up and get after it) I saw the organized team method of strategy limiting initial competitive fire 🔥 and felt that separated better players I coached

75% of youth practice should be done with live competitive offense and defense…majority unscripted develops reads and decisions ..learn thru trail and error ..creates creativity ..

This was a motto I used in teaching youth ..way before a directed move or strategy ..a compass for long term success..prevented robotic play

What youth learn early last a lifetime..teach them hard fitness is more rewarding and life fulfilling than being a couch potato …then model it for them ..life changing

Once they loved to play ..spending quality time with mom and dad ..friends and role models ..the love was the motivator ..yes it’s hard to improve ..love is the greatest motivator ..grinding and pressure before love was fools gold ..

Having kids in youth sports 🏀..I felt the first step was an environment of less stress and loving the game ..spending social time after shooting or playing a some 1-1 ..the pressure many youth get early ..was anti the environment I wanted to create ..love of the game is 🔑

Every high level team I saw or coached before 12 years off ..worked on communication pivoting believable shot and pass fakes moving without ball push dribbles shooting form eyes up finishing ..I started 4th graders with these to be the end in mind …sadly found many haven’t 🙃

Playing no dribble .. mandatory to every youth player coach parent ..ability to move w/o ball ..pass to open shooter..screen to get shooter and screener open ..get best shots ..shooting % #1 indicator to win ..
