@unusual_whales Force private equity to put their properties on the market or face a massive hoarding tax that will bankrupt them. As properties go on the market, prices fall and young people can buy homes. China banned rentier capitalism, and 95% of the population owns a home. Good example to

Did you know Nintendo’s ongoing "lateral thinking with withered technology" philosophy—repurposing cheap, mature tech for fun—is a mantra that came from the mind of Gunpei Yokoi, the inventor of the Game Boy? He joined Nintendo in 1965. He had a degree as a maintenance

These properties should be seized and redistributed to the people. Landlordism should be abolished. Landlords should get jobs like everyone else and become productive members of society rather than leeching off the labor of others.

@middle_class_us This is what marked the end of the USSR, right? They pretend to pay you and you pretend to work. Your pay doesn’t keep up with inflation so why have pride in the job? Real jobs and wages have been exported. While everything else is a government strip mining racket

Everyone keeps saying nobody wants to work. The truth is nobody wants to work a full time job that doesn’t even pay for food, rent, child care and a doctor visit. If a job can’t cover the bottom of Maslow’s hierarchy, it's forced survival with a payroll department.

They pay $16.50/hr for home caregivers here in northern California. Won't even negotiate if you have experience. I can make $20/hr as a fast food worker. I guarantee you won't get 40/hr a week, or benefits, or mileage, working for a home health care agency.

I know multiple senior/principal level American tech professionals who have credentials that are insane. None can find a job, yet many are told by contacts that are still working at their previous job that Indians have been hired and don’t know even basic things. This is
Forever layoffs are real. This isn't 2008. It's worse. Layoffs are flying under the radar and U.S. policy makers are blind to reality. Congress must act now to end OPT, H-1B, and J-1.

The chart is wild, but the real story is this: The average job gets 242 applications now. Your odds? 0.4 percent. But somehow the narrative is still that American workers are the problem … not the layoffs, not the outsourcing, not the visa pipelines, not the hiring freezes.
When someone submits a resume today, they have the abysmally low 0.4% chance of actually getting the job, per Business Insider.
