Since NY’s OBC bill passed, in 2019, FIVE more states were added to the unrestricted list: Connecticut, Louisiana, Massachusetts, South Dakota and Vermont. Minnesota will join them in 2024. NYARC has provided written support of all 6 and has done so for Michigan as well.

Happy 4th Anniversary of the day our unrestricted adoptee rights bill passed! We remember it like it was yesterday. Hope you are all doing well. Stay engaged. Help those in states where equality in obtaining one’s birth record is, still, not secured.

#CoalitionsWork thanks to @FauxClaud, @NotYourAbortee and her son the Senate passed our bill four years ago today! We can’t believe it was that long ago! NYARC’s team was amazing! @adopteelaw, #BastardNation (@StopSHBB) @AFFCNY #TeamworkMakesTheDreamWork.
Four years ago today. It was history in the making, and @NotYourAbortee and @FauxClaud were there on the Senate floor as it happened. Thanks @nyadopteerights!

NYARC Spokesperson/Board Member of @AdopteesUnited, Annette O’Connell (@NotYourAbortee) has already been in touch with @NYSenator_JSS’s office re this pending legislation. We hope to engage more with her office to help push this bill forward & thank her for taking a lead on this.
Newly introduced bill in New York would require insurance coverage for medically-related genetic testing for adoptees and those who were placed in foster care. More info:
