6 / Who will step up for MPLS and set tone that common sense / pragmatism is a winning strategy - the All In Podcast crew nailed it diagnosing the dystopia crippling American cities today. @elonmusk @chamath @MayorFrey @deanbphillips @AllOfMpls.

5 / It’s not that hard — if Milei can do it in Argentina, it can happen in MPLS, MN and across the country. All it takes it leadership, strong communication and bias for action — not “studying” and admiring the problem from afar.

4 / Here’s a novel concept. Instead of chasing “new” revenue and higher taxes, address the root cause issue by adopting fiscal austerity and return basic services back to par. That should be the focus to ensure MPLS’ viability - not chasing cheap shots and headlines for votes.

3 / City Council badly miscalculates the ramifications and position of MPLS residents - have to wonder if Council members have balanced a check book, let alone a budget.

2 / Tax base for majority of those in MPLS / MN is already high on a relative basis and the city is struggling (failing) to provide basic services as is - urban blight, crime, roads, etc. Adopting this approach only exacerbates the issue, while amplifying the political theatre. .

1 / “Tax the rich” rhetoric is metastasizing - I’m concerned for future of MPLS. You should be too. “New” revenue from ++ tax burden for businesses and individuals will catalyze polar opposite effect and leave everyone (those that stay) worse off.

New taxes for the wealthiest residents and businesses, such as a city income or payroll tax, would likely need changes to state or federal laws.
