We won't neglect you buddy! ๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿฆ‹.One of the most beautiful butterflies here at Manu Biological Station is the Neglected Eighty-eight, that is a little ray of sunshine every time you see it!โ˜€๏ธ. This group of butterflies is named 88 because of the numeric pattern on its wings! 8๏ธโƒฃ8๏ธโƒฃ

Just really sad how all my effort is for very little now on Facebook as AI pages use AI photos ripping off insect photographers and dominate the newsfeed. Very disappointing that Meta allows this shit to continue ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก

I am not sure if this mimicry relationship has been recorded before or not, but it seems a good match to me! ๐Ÿค.

Whilst already having a painful sting, this Cuckoo Bee not only looks like the Wasp but acts like it too, raising its wings & walking erratically like the wasp!๐Ÿ˜.Mรผllerian mimicry is when two harmful animals mimic each other as a shared warning signal for predator avoidance!๐ŸฆโŒ.

Itโ€™s Mimicking Monday!! ๐Ÿ.An AWESOME case of Mรผllerian mimicry is this Wasp & Bee from the Amazon! ๐ŸŒณ.Scolid Wasp females search for scarab beetle larvae underground to parasitise and have a very painful sting, so this Cuckoo Bee thought it was a good idea to mimic it!๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’™ (1/3)

AMAZONIAN BITING BEES! ๐Ÿ๐Ÿซฆ. These beautiful orange stingless bees (Scaptotrigona sp.) have one of the most stunning nests in the world, BUT look at it at your own peril! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. Their defence mechanisms includes entangling themselves IN your hair & biting you!! ๐Ÿ˜…. CUTEST AMBUSH!๐Ÿงก
