Mr Maxwell-Armstrong was joined by NUH colorectal surgical trainee Miss Lenzi. In addition to laparoscopic teaching, NUH consultants Shane MacSweeney and JJ Reilly ran a trauma course for junior consultants about to go to the front line.

In November, one of our colorectal surgeons, Mr Maxwell-Armstrong joined a small team of surgeons to travel to Ukraine.  Their ongoing project is to upskill the local Ukrainian surgeons in laparoscopic surgery, to improve health outcomes and recovery for the local population.

We recognised staff at a long service awards event. Dr Abed Zaitoun, Consultant in Cellular Pathology, celebrated 25 years’ service said: “There have been many advances in molecular pathology for patient care over the years, I have seen big changes in services and technology."
