Notice how the first thing Van Dijk speaks about is body positioning and then channelling the attacker away from goal by the same. Not tackling, not dueling. The key is always to play the attacker's mind.

The thing about scaring the attacker off, it's good but against players like Vinicius who run at you without fear & just risk it till they succeed, once they succeed... you're done in a way.

I have been analysing it for a while. Its akin to an advanced software development concept called loose coupling. He doesnt get tight to anyone, which forces the attacker to make a decision. He then pounces (at run time). This allows him to adapt to MOST situations. Its brilliant
