AI Won’t Transform Teaching and Learning — Unless It’s Built for All Learners

When funders back inclusive AI tools and innovators design with these principles in mind, AI can support systemic change rather than just new point solutions. We dig into each of these ideas in more detail in our latest blog:

3⃣ Build a new vision for inclusive innovation. Not just efficiency or “personalization," but also equity and coherence: – Models trained with inclusive, evidence-based data – Tools designed to scaffold, not simplify – Connecting whole teams around a student’s learning

💡AI can help connect the dots. Tools that integrate IEP goals, progress monitoring, and classroom instruction can: – Surface the same up-to-date data for general and special educators – Automate documentation – Free up time for planning, collaboration, and connection

2⃣ Break down silos between general and special education. Right now, teachers juggle student information systems, IEP platforms, assessments, and lesson tools that rarely talk to each other. That fragmentation hits students with disabilities and learning differences hardest.

💡Think about tools that: - Keep text complexity the same but support comprehension - Provide just-in-time math help with visuals and hints. - Help teachers see which skills students are missing and suggest targeted, evidence-based next steps

1⃣ Use AI to increase access to grade-level work, not water it down. Too many “personalized” tools lower the bar when students struggle, especially for students with learning differences. AI should scaffold to grade level, not push students to easier content.
