Dating the right person can transform your life. Whether you end up with them or not is secondary, but if they succeed in elevating your thought process and pushing you out of your comfort zone, you both won.
Indian parents need to understand that a year-long break or a year-long gap would not mean much in the grand scheme of life.
Children should be allowed second attempts, career switches, field changeovers and whatever they want to feel happier about themselves.
I got selected for IIM Bangalore today, arrived in Mumbai and received a hamper from Unilever for the Changemakers Program and also went to Marine Drive, the most peaceful place I have ever been to!
If I get to meet
@emraanhashmi
on my trip here, I will be the happiest person!
One good thing about Shark Tank:
It has made it easier for me to explain my job to people. Yes, that's what I do at work. I hear pitches and evaluate investment opportunities 😄😄
One of my friends broke up with her long time bf a few weeks ago. She has a new bf now. I am single since the start.
I guess a body at rest continues to be at rest while a body in motion continues to be in motion unless acted upon by an external force 😂😂
Learnt about a lovely South Indian tradition from a friend today:
When the father passes away, the mother's mangal sutra is melted and converted into a ring to be worn by the son, signalling a transfer of responsibility. It is worn on the ring finger directly reaching the ❤️
Had the pleasure of meeting
@vijayshekhar
today!
Loved his take on Managing People & Performance in Organisations!
He mentioned that more than money, people polarize for purpose. Find a job that aligns with your purpose and you'll not have to work a day in your life.
@Paytm
CAT 19 to CAT 22, what a run!
My life was structured around CAT for 4 whole years. I didn't take up travelling assignments coz I had to study. Didn't go out on weekends coz I had mocks.
Couldn't accept offers in new cities because managing prep & new role could be challenging.
A friend of mine is pursuing his MBA from
@IIM_Calcutta
shared a snippet of a case he was studying. Having spent nearly 1.5 years in the workforce, I found it extremely relatable and realized that my decision of not going for a degree in management right after ug made good sense.
Imagine strolling through the Juhu Beach and getting the news that you converted your call at IIM Calcutta 😃
They don't call Mumbai the city of dreams for no reason. It gave me 2 grand happy news in the same week :)
Super lucky city ❤️
I had a really sweet dream this morning. I had met
@emraanhashmi
at some hotel where he was shooting and later on, I had asked him for an autograph.
In my dream, instead of the usual signature, he wrote a whole page sharing his life's philosophy and wishing me luck.
❤️❤️
So weird that people started following me in hundreds because I got into an aspirational institution.
My views were the same yesterday. But all of a sudden, they seem more valuable to others.
Don't want such followers. Follow me for my thoughts on VC and startups. Not for tags
Can't believe it's been exactly a year since CAT results!
Still remember having checked my results w trembling fingers & bated breath. I secretly wished for a certain percentile but I thought I wasn't that smart too.
But when the screen flashed "99.13", I knew resilence had won
Noticed a pattern of late.
Whenever I go out with girls & we need to split, they keep reminding me to pay my share.
But whenever, I go out with my guy friends, they never accept money even after insisting. They are like, "agli baar tu khi la diyo"
And somehow that's beautiful
Contrarian opinion:
In the next 10-15 years, everyone will be so frustrated with screen time, that they will choose alternative careers that require more of physical presence and less of digital work.
@shivya
Marriage just makes life richer. You get to celebrate your joys with someone who is an equal partner :)
It helps people sail through the storms of life a bit more easily.
Not opting for marriage is a personal choice.

No other IIM has such a huge batch. It's the first time they expanded this much that too in the face of financial headwinds.
Not too tough to digest.
IIMA has only 390 students as opposed to 606 at IIMB.
In my IIM Bangalore interview, they had asked me about my short term life goals.
I had mentioned that I'd like to grow my Twitter audience from 1500 at that time to 15000.
3000 already. Hope I hit the mark soon.
Kids mature too quickly upon moving out. My baby brother moved to Canada a few years back for his undergrad & started working part-time to manage his expenses.
Now, he is working full-time in Toronto & graduated with Dean's Honor Roll.
He hits the gym, drives, earns all at 21.
I post regularly about my thoughts on start-ups and venture capital. But my posts go ignored. Yesterday, I posted a question about the lessons people learnt from their last relationship and my followers are increasing every minute. Shows India's priorities 🙃🙃
I bet half the smart folks who bag excellent placements in college won't be able to find a good enough job on their own.
Skillsets count. But so does awareness coupled with access to opportunities, and networks.
We all know how gifted
@emraanhashmi
is as an actor but I wanted to highlight a few aspects of his personality that make him a great human being too.
1. His childhood friends are still his close friends. That tells a lot about how much he values the people around him :)
Now I know why alums credit IIMB so much. This place has definitely helped me become a way better version of myself.
It has taught me context switching, time management, team work, presenting better, compromising for the larger good and falling in love (with life :P)
Got a Burberry cologne as a gift. Now, Idk how I will afford this again.
Introducing luxury to your life forces you to level up and work hard to be able to keep up with the upgraded consumption patterns.
Have you heard of the 100/10/1 rule in venture capital?
For every 100 deals screened by a VC, only 10 cross the investment gate and only 1 investment gives a successful exit.
Venture Capital is known to produce outsized returns but the business risk involved is equally large.
Three most profound lessons I have learnt from IIM Bangalore as a PGP1
1) You need to move on fast from your failures. Bad scores in DS II? Np. Go start CorpFin project. Deadline tomorrow.
2) Even the toughest things will get done when u team up with people from diverse bgs.
One of the best movies I watched this year - Aiyaary!
What a plot! What performances! Kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end.
Kudos
@BajpayeeManoj
@Rakulpreet
@SidMalhotra
!
It's so disheartening to see educated parents pressuring their daughters to get married at 23/24.
Some of my batchmates at IIMB have been meeting guys in arranged marriage set-ups against their will since their parents won't understand.
Let the girls be independent first!
If you are looking to break into VC and want advice on how to find relevant opportunities, build a strong profile, or how to ace VC interviews, please hit me up!
Would love to speak to VC aspirants!
A CAT Guru on LinkedIn made a post about the summer placement scenario at IIMB and literally copied my words verbatim.
I know imitation is the sweetest form of flattery. But how do we trust Internet gurus anymore?
If you're a CAT'24 aspirant kick-starting your preparation, I'd like to help! 😊
1. Understand the pattern of the paper before you start your preparation. 2h - 66 Questions (24 + 20 + 22), 40m per section.
2. Attempt a diagnostic test to know how much you'd need to grind.
Weird how people mention their ranks and scores in their bios.
Nothing against them. But my dear folks, you're way more than that. Discover more aspects of your personality.
Bschool is definitely not a break from work as the popular perception goes. It's even more demanding wrt the deadlines and rigour of the courses. Not for the faint-hearted!
I miss the good old quora days where I came across multiple intellectuals from across the globe and got to live their lives vicariously.
Some of them influenced my decisions with respect to MBA, Venture Capital and even relationships.
Hope to discover similar accounts on X!
Our Entrepreneurship Prof who hails from France, mentioned that he went through my LinkedIn profile & he is aware of my background in VC & my interest in startups.
He laughingly said that I don't need this course 😂😂
I was pleasantly surprised that he remembered my profile.
It is surprising how I don't realize how fast days pass here at IIMB. It's 8 PM and I have done so many things since morning.
Hit the gym for the first time in life, played basket ball for the first time, explored new outlets in the campus, made new girl-friends and survived :P
Venture Capital is the most hyper connected industry in the world.
To thrive in this space, you must master learning quickly, forging strong connections, and crunching numbers.
Today, I made a new friend from Belgium 🇧🇪
He is an exchange student at IIMB and we met during a trip together.
1. He was so chivalrous throughout. Probably because he has grown up with sisters :)
2. He was full of energy and didn't mind the cultural differences!
