NSCC Director General was taken on a tour of SMEDAN 'S Common Facility Centres within the headquarters of the Agency.

Director General of SMEDAN, Mr Charles Odii represented by the Director in the DG's Office, Mr Onesi-Lawani Daberuje commended NSCC DG for the sustainable drive with assurance that within MSMEs space SMEDAN will always prioritise Senior Citizens for beneficial engagements.

She is confident that the NSCC-SMEDAN partnership will continually break barriers, touch lives and build an inclusive economy where no one, especially senior citizens 60 years and above will be left behind.

Others are, Digital and Financial Literacy Programmes, Data Sharing and Joint Monitoring Frameworks.

While appreciating the partnership with SMEDAN brokered by her predecessor, she expressed the desire to deepen it to scale-up training for Senior Entrepreneurs, Access to Microcredit and Business Support Services and Establishment of Senior Citizens Business hubs.

Mrs Akinyemi-Obe said President Tinubu's places emphasis on human capital development, social inclusion and economic resilience values which align perfectly with the mandate of NSCC and SMEDAN.

By ensuring a safety net for the nation's most vulnerable retirees, the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu has not only alleviated financial hardships but restored dignity Senior Citizens.

The statement says President Tinubu’s directives has addressed a critical need that has been neglected for far too long as the implementation of pension increases will significantly enhance the quality of life for countless retirees who have dedicated their lives to nation.

Mrs Akinyemi-Obe assured that the National Senior Citizens Centre established pursuant to the NSCC Act 2017, remains a vocal advocate for the rights and well-being of senior citizens and will tirelessly champion and support the cause of pension reform and improvement.

The Director General particularly appreciated President Tinubu’s directive for an urgent resolution of the long-standing police pension debacle, stressing that officers who have served should retire with dignity and a restful mind.

This collaboration between NSCC and PTAD will focus on Data Sharing and Interventions, joint outreach, stakeholder engagement, Innovation for Healthy and Productive Ageing, and pensioners' welfare and Advocacy.

This was reached during a courtesy visit by the Executive Secretary of PTAD, Tolulope Odunaiya to the Director General of the National Senior Citizens Centre, Hon. Omobolanle Akinyemi-Obe at the Head Office of NSCC in Abuja.

In a commitment towards building an enduring partnership, for greater impact, dignity, and inclusion of older persons and pensioners in Nigeria, the NSCC and PTAD will establish a Joint Working Group that will develop a guide for strategic partnership between the two agencies.
