Why is Liberty so special? It furthers the Gospel - the Truth - of Jesus Christ through sport and music. Training Champions for Christ since 1971. Chills every time. It’s just different on the mountain. FLAMES 🔥 ⬆️🥎

We actually don’t disagree. I am highlighting the entire OL unit, which includes OT, and the entire DL unit, which includes DE. I think there can be debate between CB & LB, but the front 7 directly impacts the secondary. Stop run, pressure QB, help the backend.
@npretty89 Bruh, the most consequential positions are QB, OT, DE, and CB. If you are good at those 4, you will win more than you lose. We are only good at CB.

Such a good pod. Great analysis every week. “Numbers by Nick” needs to become a coined term - always has all the data.
This week, we recap the big moments and the key, winning plays from Tuesday's win over NMSU. What does it mean for the big picture? What to expect from the team the rest of the year and why they can finish strong. 🎧: https://t.co/GXnSKHdOnU 📺: https://t.co/p56NDLgWP0

If scratching and clawing for bowl eligibility against the bottom of FBS is acceptable, then Chadwell should make 1/8th his comp. Chadwell & co are top paid G5 staff. The expectations reflect commitment. So it’s not acceptable. There’s no excuse - that’s the whole point.
Money and resources do not = wins. Money and resources reflect commitment. The highest paid G5 staff in the country reflects a tremendous commitment to excellence. Criticism and questions abound when the results are contrary to the commitment. It got Franklin fired from PSU.

Positions in need of talent upgrade: QB OL DL LB Most consequential positions on the football field: QB OL DL LB
@FlamesBourbon @Hail_Liberty71 @npretty89 (1/2) I agree. I just see 99% of those complaining non-stop, talking about budget. There are a few positions where I think our staff whiffed on talent; one position being poached by P5s lol. A couple coordinators do need to step it up; tackling for example.

If CUSA can produce top 50 teams, then of course LU won’t win the conference every year. Winning and winning against respectable talent carry notable distinctions. CUSA is not respected because it does not have objectively respectable talent - see AAC & MWC for competing examples
@Hail_Liberty71 @npretty89 I agree with this, for the most part. But there’s a point where you have to realize that we’re not going to win CUSA every season and that budget doesn’t guarantee success. The team isn’t great this year, but they might be turning it around.

@npretty89 Fair criticism of the team should be welcomed. Too much money is being dumped into this football program for fans to throw their hands up and say “well at least we’re going to play in the Joe Shmoe’s Hardware Bowl!”. It doesn’t make you a fake fan to be honest about the current

For context: Boise St had an FPI / SOR of 27 / 16 last year. OVR - 18. OFF - 11. DEF - 35. CFP caliber programs are top 25 on the field, in coaching, and in analytics. Liberty is bottom 25 across the board right now. That can change. It needs to change. Or it will change.
For the “ why aren’t you happy we won?” crowd: Liberty as an institution has a stated goal of being a CFP program. Chadwell has a stated goal of leading LU to be a CFP program. LU isn’t Arkansas, and Chadwell isn’t Sam Pittman. The goals create the corresponding expectations.

If 6-6 or 8-4 with nail biters against UMASS & NMSU to reach bowl eligibility are the goal, then Chadwell is doing great. A bowl is a bowl is a bowl is a bowl. No complaints. If becoming a CFP program is still the goal, then every criticism is 1000% warranted. Not satisfied.

NMSU Resume: SOS - 134 SOR - 114 FPI - 123 OVR EFF - 120 OFF EFF - 119 DEF EFF - 97 Best win - Home 21-14 vs Tulsa (Ranked 111) By definition, NMSU is hot garbage.
@npretty89 NMSU isn’t awful though

Death. Taxes. Liberty winning games against awful teams due to missed FGs.

LU was competing neck and neck with P4 schools in the 3 years prior to Chadwell. With wins over, Syracuse, VT, BYU & Arkansas. Chadwell has never beaten a top 100 P4 team. There’s really no argument here.
@npretty89 I’ll challenge that because the program had the same problem under Freeze. ‘22 lost to 3-8 Tech at home. ‘21 lost to 4-8 Louisiana Monroe. I also feel like saying we out kicked the coverage in ‘23 and then being upset our FPI has gone down can’t coexist.

I do expect Chadwell to be the HC for LU in 2026*
@npretty89 He will be. But if he doesn’t make serious staff changes and has another year like this in 2026, he may not see 2027 in Lynchburg.
