No #tugs. Ship sailing straight through canal at about 13 knots. If nothing goes wrong this is fine. But windage is a big problem at such speed. It’s the drift angle. We could have controlled it. #naturebasedsolutions #suezcanal #EVERGIVEN #novatug #riskmanagement

The CARROUSEL RAVE TUG (CRT) is able to get ships in and out of ports very quick. The turnaround is short and efficient. Which is great for everybody involved. Shorter ship turnaround means better stocked shelves in supermarkets and stores.

A CARROUSEL RAVE TUG (CRT) needs less maintenance and repair by using the hull to create force, instead of the propulsion train. That means: saving a lot of time for the more important things.

If tugs have more control, even the largest ships can continue to call at existing ports. This is important, because expanding those ports is far too expensive. The CRT extends the life and capabilities of existing infrastructures. 

The start of a whole new era in towing.

Large ships are growing twice as fast as the power of tugboats. At larger speeds, tugs lack control over the ship they're assisting, while huge ships need speed to be able to steer well themselves. 

The only solution to maintain control? The CRT. By putting thrust in nature.

There are a few constants in our universe. Systems that work perfectly by the forces of nature. The moon revolves around the Earth. The Earth revolves around the sun. The sun rotates around Sagittarius A*. And... the CRT. Rotating 360 degrees and putting thrust in nature!

When an assisted ship needs to slow down, the CRT is a master in braking. It's dragged behind the ship as a floating anchor with minimum engine power input. Its towing point is on a freely rotating ring, which means it can use its own hull to create lift for braking.

After reaching a certain number of knots, the CRT can maintain control over an assisted ship, by hardly using any engine power. That means: less fuel consumption, lower harmful emissions. On to a more sustainable operation. And a more sustainable world.

The world is never not changing. Neither is the global maritime transport chain. Ships are getting bigger and the amount of cargo per vessel is increasing fast. As a result, we need to maintain more control.

 Time to rethink the tools! At Novatug we do that on a daily basis.

Safety, safety, safety. That has been the main reason to develop the CRT. Research shows that 53% of the fatalities that have to do with service ships, occur on board of tugs. Almost all victims are crew members! The CRT guarantees no capsize risk: that means no victims.
