How strange it is: a brand new COVID variant discovered in France has not attracted group travel bans, when SA and other African countries are still reeling from the backhanded slaps we received from the "global community". What times these are.

@njokingumi New racism is not about JimCrow anymore . It's Restriction, Ban, Advisory or such other "sweet" names they use to destroy Africa.

@njokingumi Articles are very quick to point out that the apparent source of the variant is Cameroon. πŸ™„ Of course they need an African country to pin their own carelessness on.

Lots of chat about B.1.640.2 in the last few days - just a few points to keep in mind: - B.1.640.2 actually predates Omicron - in all that time there are exactly... 20 sequences (compared to the >120k Omis in less time) Def not one worth worrying about too much at the mo...

@njokingumi @SpaceAndOrTime Advanced and concentrated racism it is! They shut their borders from Africans due to Omicron immediately it was detected, yet Africa never really felt it's impact. It settled in the Northern hemisphere countries. France should shut itself in!
