i figured it'd be fun to do a lil time lapse of reworking the posthog about page. so here's a bit of me moving some words and shapes around, and then writing come code.

United has some of the best UX of any airline website. it legitimately makes me want to fly them more.

and of course, if you're trying to tell a story visually, i highly recommend using @balsamiq. you don't have to make your wireframes as hi-fi as this, but it's infinitely easier to work at medium fidelity when you're still exploring concepts vs getting too locked into the visuals

the idea is that it would replace the Windows File Explorer view at https://t.co/U23iIPtlYk (screenshot from live version) let me know what you think!

alright here it is: a time lapse of me trying to reimagine our /products page, starting from a blank canvas. the goal: make the page a bit more guided. (right now it looks like a file explorer, which requires the visitor being willing to click around and explore). it works
i just screen recorded the process of me designing a new /products page in Balsamiq. it's 1 hour, 41 minutes long. debating if i should time lapse it, or if putting it out there is too embarrassing... π

turns out the Feet Pics folder on the https://t.co/cXpneBuygY has been one of the most viral parts of the new site. when i added it, i was personally so weirded out by it that i decided it needed executive-level buy-in. i was not expecting this level of (non-)response...

just a reminder that one of the highest performing e-commerce sites (who tests *extensively*) still looks like this visual design. doesnβt. matter. #πΆοΈ

to the gentlemen designers out there, sorry with all the family spam but this is important... as important as your career is, it's not as rewarding or fulfilling as starting a family. my biggest regret in life is waiting until I had all my ducks in a row. I'm in the greatest

just a quick shout out to all the stay at home moms out there who struggle with feeling like they're not contributing enough by not bringing home a paycheck... my @__taralianne, just like I'm in the busiest season of work of my life, I know you are too. my work pays the bills,

it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks
The craziest part about this behind the scenes is how @ninepixelgrid designed most of the new Posthog website in Balsamiq π€―

Brand is a framework for consistent and rapid decision making. That's the advantage. And the longer you have it the more obvious it is to everyone else.
brand is everything btw its what you look like, what you sound like, how you represent yourself its currency for both how the world perceives you, and perceives your company its insane how much of an advantage you get over your peers from brand development

to whoever at Instagram decided to move the timestamp to the top of the post where it rotates with the song and location, please meet me in the back alley after dark...

can someone explain this @NFLonFOX graphics package to me? feels somewhere between utilitarianism and brutalism with what feels like a lack of cohesion. I don't hate it, but it definitely doesn't blow my mind.

you cannot convince me my phone isn't listening to me. I've mentioned ADP at a talk on Sunday and in an interview today - but both in relation to work I did more than a decade ago. I haven't visited their website in 10+ years. and today I get an ad from them on Instagram??

Bout to get the behind-the-scenes on this new website... What would you like to hear about?
i've spent the last six months building the most insane thing in my career: a new PostHog website. and in about 12 hours, i'm going to push it live. but it's not just a redesign - it's like an operating system in the browser. the level of detail is insane. no normal company
