Bangladesh has elected only women prime ministers in its democratic history since 1990. You heard it correct, it never had a male pm. May not be a paragon of democracy, but it holds symbolic significance. Perhaps it’s overdue for the US to reflect on its self-proclaimed bravado.

At the end of the chapter, I dropped the concept "climate authoritarianism," which I thought I would explore further in my future work. However, given the recent collapse of authoritarianism following a mass uprising in Bangladesh, it seems unnecessary!

I contributed the lead chapter (chapter one), "The Path to Neoliberalism," to this volume on social transformation in Bangladesh. I explore the political economic journey that led to the rise of neoliberalism in Bangladesh. https://t.co/3q2IXBu5BE

As a religious minority coming from Bangladesh, it is disheartening to witness India repeating its tragic history instead of learning from it. Majoritarianism is akin to a dangerous virus, wreaking havoc on the foundations of a diverse society. #India #Majoritarianism

Editors in top North American sociology journals are adding right-wing academics from the global South to their boards. While this may happen unknowingly, consulting with GS colleagues could help. Another example of the pitfalls of relying solely on quant metrics like citations.
