A wonderful lecture I wish there were more of by David Conte, the youngest of Nadia Boulanger's students. She was born in 1887 - her father in 1810. So David's pedagogical lineage stretches back to Beethoven (as he mentions in the talk) https://t.co/CQxtEISkPC

Each piece is dedicated to a friend who died in battle; the old styles [Prelude, Fugue, Forlane, etc.] pass by like a procession of ghosts.' https://t.co/Wgrk950eWg This is a great analysis of the first piece, 'Prelude' that talks about Ravel's playing with the spectrum of 5ths.

https://t.co/vnOx76F37Q Quote from the book 'The Rest is Noise' - 'Ravel's principle piece of the war years. In the context of the time, Le Tombeau might seem a little precious, as if it were averting its gaze from the carnage... but..emotion smolders under the exquisite surface.

It now sleeps in some place I don't know. And I hope it never has to wake up again.

I found some batteries and powered it up for the first time in maybe 13 years and from the moment it woke up it didnt stop screaming. A sound I don't remember it ever having made before. It screamed and screamed and turned its head maniacally until I mercifully pulled the power.

Me and Kinti came up with the idea for this whilst packing to move to Latvia. As is typical when moving, a lot of old objects and mementos were pulled from their dark forgotten places, including a Furby I had bought in my teens.

Unless massive immediate change happens to the way these companies work, we will see a very real poverty of art with every single visual artist losing their way of life and possibly their meaning too. It is distinctly anti human and therefore anti art.

Incredible soundtrack to this short by @DirtyProjectors. I've been listening to them most of my life. What a constant source of innovation and inspiration and interest. https://t.co/zEyEgmRcg8

Henry Cowell's exploration of sounds available on the piano - The Banshee. Requiring two performers. https://t.co/aGwRvTI8fi Taking its name from the myth of the Banshee, a spirit who's wailing signified the impending death of a family member.. absolutely terrifying.

Arrogantly twisting the sterile canvas snoot of a fully charged icing anointment utensil he puts forth a quarter ounce green rosette near the summit of a dense but radiant muffin of his own design. https://t.co/lQTSnSnxDu
