As someone who has successfully(?) avoided going deep on databases for 25+ years, a basic grasp of SQL with AI help is a magical combo. If you want local, get a Pi or similar. You can just nuke it if things go badly.
@Mappletons Tbh spend an hour learning the basics of SQL, then have ChatGPT write all your queries. With just that baseline, youβll have enough knowledge to debug when the AI generated query is wrong and figure out what itβs actually doing.

Agreed. Arguably worse though is the increasing use of "parabolic" as a term to describe growth. Have they ever *looked* at a parabola? Depending on orientation, you are either saying the end will be awful or the middle will suck! π€.
The rate at which people misuse the word exponential is growing. exponentially. * Wishes there was a strike-through text formatting option on twitter/X.

Deeply saddened to hear about the untimely death of @rsaracco. He was a genuinely charming, insightful and engaging individual. I had multiple opportunities to collaborate and co-present with him, and I enjoyed them all.

This is amazing. PowerPoint would be so much more fun if presentations still worked this way.
Before PowerPoint, DuPont had a Chart Room. Made in 1919, it was considered so vital that its existence was secret for 40 years. Charts would zoom towards the board on monorails. The original version was a set of fixed slides that executives in wheelie chairs would be pushed past

5/ Yes, fun was had. But there are also some seriously impressive things happening here in terms of understanding context. Apart from the correct use of emojis, #PegLegLife shows humor and understanding of the broader context. As does the closer, "Stay wavey!".

1/ GPT4 is happy to impersonate literary figures. But you can also make it do so much more. Prompt: "As Captain Ahab, can you pretend to be a teenage tik tok influencer and tell me about your quest for the whale?". A thread. #GPT4 #ChatGPTPlus #PromptEngineering.

The sting in the tail of Section 174 is going to absolutely cripple small companies doing R&D. Simple summary: the IRS now say that R&D expenses have to be amortized, not treated as an expense. Net result: huge tax bill for business owners.

A piece of the 2017 tax law requiring companies to spread deductions for research costs over five years instead of taking them immediately is going into effect now, leaving some small firms owing the...

As ever, @rsaracco summarizes this better than I would. There are *many* ethical and societal implications of AI that need to be discussed. But you ignore it at your peril. In the past few weeks I've moved from serious skeptic to wide-eyed disbelief at the potential.

PSA for anyone attending #CES2023. Badge pickup is a hot mess. If you think the lines at the airport and hotels are long, they're nothing compared to onsite. Been in line for almost 90 mins and I don't have a badge yet. #fail #fairwarning.
