🔸 Ecoserranía, a small peasant group in Segovia, Antioquia, is resisting deforestation, mining, and conflict. With our support, they’ve received training in territorial rights, sustainability, and financial management, helping them protect their land and future 🌳

🔸 Mujeres Hiladoras de Vida is a powerful collective of Pasto, Yanacona, and Embera Chamí women in Putumayo. When we first connected, they had no grant experience but a strong vision. Today, they lead forest protection with a clear gender perspective 💪🏽🌱

At the NHRF, we proudly support peasant, Indigenous, and Afro-Colombian communities in Colombia. Together, we work to strengthen rights, protect environmental defenders, and promote community-led forest conservation. 📌 Real change comes from the ground up.

In 2024, the NHRF supported 148 projects through 138 grantee partners, reaching 25,740 human rights defenders, 60% of them women human rights defenders. Their stories reflect courage, strength, and unwavering commitment to justice, equality, and human rights 💪🏽✨

“We have high hopes that this resolution will contribute to ensuring that new technology is not used to restrict freedom of expression, freedom of assembly, or the right to privacy, and that it will increase protection of human rights defenders in the digital sphere”, says Moa

@IngeborgMoa states "For HRDs, online harassment and violence often does not stay online but leads to and is linked with direct attacks outside the digital spheres. This is a particular risk to those human rights defenders who are already vulnerable to threats and attacks"

We would like to commend @Utenriksdept for putting forward a resolution on new technology and HRDs at the UN this spring. Local human rights organisations often report experiencing harassment online, digital surveillance and attacks because of their legitimate human rights work.
