This is a nice idea in principle, but so many DJ/producers already pass around the same $10 on bandcamp every month and this doesn’t feel any different unless the venues match the percentage contributed from the DJ’s fee (putting their money where their mouth is).
Thoughts?
The recommended contribution for each set is 5%. Let’s say a DJ has a $1000 fee and the 5% is $50, split between all the producers in their set. Matching that would be pennies for venues like basement (who posted this), the equivalent of one door ticket. Why put it all on the dj?
It’s still pennies in the end. It sounds great but if a venue or establishment wants to claim they support this they need to financially back up that claim.

Aslice rocks
Also great promo for smaller artists that get paid/tagged/played by bigger artists
Would have never known some artists played my music without it

ASCAP already exists for this. Pioneer has software that will report what DJs play so the artists get royalties. Venues just need to sign up. It costs them nothing.
