They make beautiful art and come up with weird ideas and get sappy and sweet and yell at me for making them cry. I didn't mean to write myself a home, but I did, and this is its sound, And it turns out a bunch of other people like this home too.

It is the actual coolest thing, as a creator, to get to be part of those conversations. One of our very first fans has filled in the gaps in the narrative with some quite plausible hard science. One fan is scarily good at predicting where the story is going.

But more than that, its existence is a tiny miracle too. We didn't know people would fall in love with this story, or this sound and its meaning in the story, but they did. They gather on our discord server and share their ideas, from realistic to wild, about this story.

Because first a fan talked about loving it, and then a cast member said he found it soothing, and Trace made us a 20-minute loop of nothing but ship-heart. It's a miracle of sound design, this mechanical but warm pulsing environmental sound.

There's a sound that the ship makes. @Whispering_hour calls it the ship-heart. And even though very little of this story has been on the ship, somehow many of us - cast and fans - find it comforting. I'm listening to it now.

been on a bit of an existential sci-fi kick tonight so I listened to @WhatWillBeHere and @needsanamepod ‘s first episodes and YES???? THEYRE SO GOOD???? going right on my “sci-fi for troubling times” list. There’s such charming characterization and great emotion in both shows!
