Robert Walls was one of the most impactful people in my football journey; just 7 months as my first AFL coach. He was hard but fair and drove unrelenting standards around putting team over individual, ruthlessly schooling those that refused to. I am forever in his debt 🙏❤️.

AFL last night was held to account on their very own rules. An action “likely to cause injury”. Players take the field accepting that injury, in some shape or form, is probable in a game based on contest. This is a consequential reality that cannot be legislated out of the game.

Watch Dangerfield and tell me what more he could do. Attempts to put the brakes on the momentum of both, sits upright and has a leg under Walsh as they both, inexorably, go to ground. Walsh’s head makes glancing contact to the ground with no effect. Is that not duty of care?.

And kudos to the field umpires tonight. Nick Foot, Matt Stevic, Jamie Broadbent and Craig Fleer have executed brilliantly. An interpretation change is one thing but it still needs to be put in lot practice….great work 👏👏👏.

Open question…. Luke Parker is a hardened AFL footballer playing against, with all due respect, amateur footballers (some more so than others). Is he responsible for the lack of awareness of his opposition that contributes to the impact of the football action?. #3weeks.
