#OnThisDay 1984. NACODS president Ken Sampey blames the National Coal Board chairman Ian MacGregor for the breakdown in peace talks.
#OnThisDay 1984. NACODS, the pit deputies union, call a national strike from 25 October after failing to agree a settlement over colliery closures. In a secret ballot the pit deputies voted 82.5 percent in favour of strike action.
