Today marks the last day of my term as Chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Council on Early Childhood. I hand off the silver baby rattle “Chair’s Gavel” to my successor. It’s been a good run, and I only hope I left it better than when I started. #TopCouncil

This action came several hours after our second letter asking for information about what was happening with IMLS, notably with staff furloughs, grants (many of which are authorized in statute), etc. We received no communication aside from the brief termination notice. (2/4).

Friends,. I and what appears to be the entire National Museum and Library Services Board (the White House-appointed advisory body for the Institute for Museum and Library Services) was abruptly terminated by the current administration last Thurs afternoon, w/o explanation. (1/4).
