Some notes on Gholdengo!.

I see that many people are responding to the time change with “PlAy fAsTeR”, however that doesn’t really fix the issue which is that there isn’t enough time. If one player isn’t playing fast then why should the other player be punished with a tie? Looking at prizes would be good.

The invite structure remaining is fine for masters but it’s still a nightmare for juniors and seniors, specifically in oceania. It’s a big barrier to travel overseas from Australia with a junior to compete and puts a ton of stress on both the junior and their parents.

I know many players are massive bo1 haters but I think it could be okay with additional Swiss rounds (something like 11 day 1 and 7 day 2). Playing bo3 too often feels like I’m playing clock simulator and having to battle both my opponent and the time limit isn’t exciting.

The time rule changes make no sense, if anything this significantly increases ties?? I understand that it’s made to smooth tournaments along but I don’t see why at least 55+1 isn’t considered, or even 60+1 or even turns. Bo3 50 minutes is easily my least part of tournaments.

I have some thoughts about these, but first the positive!. 1 Swiss round is pretty good and removes the useless top 32 asym. Additionally, the points changes for Regionals are very good, making it so that top 8 isn’t almost double top 16, slightly balancing things out.

2025 Season!. Some ups and downs, but got to 2nd in Oceania again. Always motivated to play more and will be trying my best at Worlds and the tournaments I get to go to next year!

Dropped from NAIC. Poor preparation + poor play = poor results 🙃.
