As an interior designer, if I said ‘luxury behavioral design,’ what would you think? Examples, please.

The most useless part of a house? I’ll go first- the foyer. Second most useless part is the owners entrance. Nothing says ‘welcome home’ like walking through the bowls of your house while the UPS guy gets wallpaper and rugs. “Oh, but there’s a bench!” 🤮🤮

Most luxuries are about making your animal brain happy via the 5 senses— nice perfume, gourmet food, moving music, soft sheets, and beautiful spaces. I’m not snotty, it’s just basic evolution. #emotionalhome #interiordesign

Anyone know where I can find data on visual/textural patterns and why we need them? Why do we automatically sort stuff? #neuroaesthetics #design #psychology @dhruggles @Anjan435 @ann_sussman

Residential interior design is all about creating #emotionalhomes by designing spaces that connect the residents to the architecture. Identity design with memory references, that incorporate your #myersbriggstype is the remedy for our modern life.

Disnified- from the noun, Disney. When someone falls down the trend rabbit hole so deeply that their house feels like it belongs in Epcot’s new Suburban Houses of America feature, and every scrap of identity is gone. Inauthentic.

Woohoo! Many thanks to @dhruggles for my Beauty, Neuroscience & Architecture book. I am really looking forward to reading this, and of course everything about the book has been well designed. Thank you! #neuroaesthetics #yourbrainonbeauty #emotionalhome

Can we also talk about the role HOA fees play in preventing upward mobility? One shouldn’t need to earn $54k a year to afford a $130k house because of a $400 monthly HOA. Security at home, and our mental well-being, starts here. #EmotionalHome

As a profession, we don’t all talk about our role in redlining. We don’t talk about equitable resource allocation. We have been complicit in warehousing people.

If your torn between creating a beautiful home to live in and resale: my buyers walked from a house that’s gone down $110k over the last three months because it would take too much work to update. #sellersremorse

We hold on to a lot of housing myths, like our homes are about financial investments and not emotional ones, or that updating doesn’t pay off. Beautiful homes make every day better, and they sell quicker and for more money than dated ones.

Since we’ve discovered the emotional value of home and #neuroaesthetics behind it, can we please start talking about #interiordesign as the interface between people, architecture, and emotions, instead of farmhouse decor tricks? @Emotional_Home

They may call it a Unicorn Home, but I call it an #EmotionalHome when we balance investment and physical structure, with our intellectual processes, culture and personal style.

Innovators to real estate complain about opacity and how hard it is to simplify the business. That fails to understand that real estate has emotion involved. Emotion can’t be managed by an app. #realestateftcdoj
