when he got put into 1C. the literal top hero school in the country denied him the hero course. can u imagine how shitty that must feel ohh shinsou im so sorry bro.

also not the biggest fan of the foster kid hc. shin has a loving mom and dad and the entire point of his character is that he was mistreated for his quirk and alienated at a young age which is traumatizing enough. the belief that he couldnt become a hero was almost solidified ++.

and the only "downtime" he allows himself is learning languages because hes (1 a nerd and enjoys it, but (2 it still inevitably goes back to helping him with his quirk. also makes sense since in canon hes an overseas pro who needs people to actually understand him to do his job.
